Volunteer/Work Trade Opportunities
Help us have a successful event!
Our volunteers are the lifeline of our conference. We can not have a successful Gathering without the help of our dedicated volunteers. No matter what role they play from manning the registration table to helping us set up/take down to parking cars, we appreciate all the hard work and time that each one of them provides to make this event the beautiful gift that it is.

It is our hope this year to recruit more individuals to help us pull off the Gathering without a hitch. This year we are offering work trade positions in lieu of volunteers. Applications will start in May 2023!
2023 Gullah Geechee Herbal Gathering Work Trade Program
Thank you for your interest in the 2023 Gullah Geechee Herbal Gathering Work-Trade Program. If you are hardworking, responsible, and enjoy working ‘behind the scenes’ to create a magical event, work-trade is a great opportunity to be of help and service as we work together to create a fantastic and impactful Gathering.
Our work-trade team is responsible for numerous jobs that make the conference run smoothly. Tasks are assigned equally and fairly. There are tasks that require flexibility and immediate attention. However, most of our tasks are completed before and after the conference and still leave time for participating in classes and special events during the conference.

What the program offers:
In exchange for joining our work-trade program, work trade volunteers receive 50% off their admission fee and 3 free class recordings in exchange for working between 4 - 6 hours during the Gathering.
Program details and expectations:
We need our work-trade volunteers to be available at specific times throughout the day which can potentially interfere with times you may need to be with your children (if you have them with you at the conference). Because of this, we have found that it doesn’t work for people who are bringing their children to join the Work-Trade team.

Each work-trade member must be available from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening and should be prepared to work 4-6 hours total throughout the conference. All work-trade members must be able to be at the venue on Friday afternoon by 2:00 pm for an orientation meeting and to begin our tasks. Please note that if you cannot be on campus by 2:00 pm on Friday, October 6, you will not be able to join our work-trade team.
What you need to do:

Fill out the work-trade application.

Upon acceptance of your application. Register for the Gathering using the "Adult Registration (Volunteer)​" choice. You will be prompted to answer if you would like to do work trade. You will pay the normal price for your ticket.

Work six to seven hours over the course of the weekend, which may be assigned at any time during the official Gathering hours. There will also be slots for set-up and tear-down that will count toward your total hours.

Be willing to answer simple attendee questions, contact a staff member, or point people in the right direction at any time.

While on duty, take responsibility for the area you are in, making sure that it's tidy and hazard-free.

What you will receive:

After the event, you'll receive reimbursement via PayPal or check for the appropriate amount to make your admission fee half of the admission price you paid. (If you pay early bird admission, your reimbursement is ½ of this amount; if you pay full-price admission your reimbursement is ½ of this amount). This only applies to the admission fee. Expect to receive this reimbursement within 1 - 2 weeks after the Gathering.

Up to three free class recordings of your choice, as a thank-you for missing sessions to help us out.
