WHY THIS GATHERING MATTERS
The Gullah Geechee Herbal Gathering is a multi-generational herbal conference that brings together Black and Indigenous herbalists, healers, farmers, artists, birth workers, spiritualists, culture bearers, and community members to celebrate, preserve, and share traditional plant knowledge.
Rooted in our founder's ancestral lands of Johns Island, South Carolina, the Gathering creates space for education, cultural preservation, healing, and community connection through workshops, story telling, herbal practices, music, ancestral veneration, food and shared experiences.
Each year, participants come together to learn from respected teachers, reconnect with ancestral traditions, build relationships across generations, and strengthen the living legacy of herbal wisdom within our communities from around the Diaspora.
This Gathering is a conference, a homecoming, a classroom, and a living expression of cultural memory and collective healing.
Why It’s Different
-
Black-led. Indigenous-rooted. Healing-centered.
-
We’re not giving TED Talks. We’re teaching real healing skills in open-air tents and sacred land.
-
Our community includes rural, urban, Southern, Caribbean, and diasporic wisdom.
-
Every voice matters. This gathering isn’t about performance — it’s about participation
