Camping and lodging for the 2024 Gullah Geechee Herbal gathering

Sleep under the stars and connect with nature at the Gullah Geechee Herbal Gathering! We will happily provide space for you to stake your tent if you want to be right where the action is. Camping on the property is free of charge for all conference attendees if they desire to stay on the property. We’ll have plenty of rustic sites available (emphasis on the rustic) along our beautiful wooded trails and fields. Because the Gullah Geechee Herbal Gathering is being held on Black Gullah Geechee owned private property and not at a formal campground, we are unable to accommodate RV’s, camping trailers and car campers. The infrastructure of the property is just not designed for that type of use.

There are several lovely campgrounds nearby if you want to camp that way. We will provide porta potties, and stations to wash hands and brush teeth. Food trucks will be on site all weekend, but if you wish to bring already prepared food you are welcome to do so.

For everyone’s safety, no outdoor fires will be permitted outside of the fire pit, this includes grills and camp stoves. There will be hot water available at all times for rehydrating soups and oatmeal, etc. too.

There will be some tent spaces available along the edges of our main field for those of you who want or need to be closer to the action. Most of our sites will be set around the perimeter of the property in a few designated areas.

Off site Lodging

Margret's Meadow is my family's private property and is tucked away on John's Island which is outside of Charleston, SC, but there is plenty of lodging within a reasonable drive from the conference. We highly suggest you look for lodging on Savannah Highway in West Ashley. We have listed a couple suggestions below. We have no affiliation with these hotels, please suse your discretion.
